The leg brackets were full of debris and sediment which was causing them to hold water. This could cause damage during freezing and thawing. They were cleaned out and drainage was re-established.
Taking a break to talk to hikers. We could tell that these guys were experienced hikers as we watched them carefully stay on the rocks and off the vegetation as they walked around the summit.
