Summit Stewards greet hikers on the top of the mountain to provide information, such as local and tower history, they point out geographical features and offer hiking tips.
Please consider spending a day or more on the top of St. Regis to speak with people and share your passion for the tower.
You can use this online calendar to volunteer as a steward. Click on the date(s) you would like to serve. You will receive an email confirming your date. You can select more than one date by holding down the Command or Control key. In the details box you can specify the times you plan to be on duty or ask questions you might have. You can also contact Janelle Hoh to volunteer or to get more information.
Every Sunday there is a steward from the Adirondack Watershed Institute on the summit.
This is a volunteer effort, so if you sign up and cannot make it because of another obligation or the weather is bad, it is ok. Please let Janelle know if you need to cancel.
The Tower Stewards Handbook is accessible on your mobile device or downloadable at http://www.friendsofstregis.org/tower-steward-handbook/.
Summit card certificates, which verify the tower was climbed and signed by the steward, are available from Janelle Hoh, Scottie Adams or Doug Fitzgerald. We encourage you to hand them out. Kids especially like them.
If possible please keep track of the number of visitors and write a brief account for that day similar to what is seen on our Facebook page or at http://www.friendsofstregis.org/trail-report/.
Thank you for your support to our educational mission.
