Did you know the summit of St Regis is partially bare rock due to a fire started by Verplank Colvin’ surveyors in 1876?Again, in 1903, fire was a theme at St Regis Mountain. A fire started by an arsonist on William Rockefeller’s property near the base of the mountain burned 40,000 acres. But that wasn’t the only fire that year.
