2019 was another very productive year for the St. Regis Mountain Fire Tower, its Friends group, and all those who hike to the tower, support the tower, and support the Friends group. Thanks to all!!!!!
Restoration of the tower started up again in earnest in May 2019 – and continued on until October. The major projects undertaken were replacement of all the cross braces, repair of the footings, cleaning out the bracket footings, priming of the metal stair stringers, priming the drilled holes in the window frames, and painting over graffiti in the cab.

In June, co-chair board member Doug presented at the 2019 FFLA North Eastern Conference in the Catskills. Friends John, Leo and Rich also attended. We climbed some Catskill Fire Towers. Here’s Hunter Mt tower.
Hikers and friends: please continue to submit pictures and trail reports to our Facebook page. We are already planning what projects will be undertaken in 2020: finishing the priming of the metal under the cab floor; installing panorama pictures of the view in the cab; painting the entire tower, and repair or replace the protective fencing. As we progress in restoration efforts and branch out to more educational endeavors, we will need additional board members and volunteers to keep things moving along. Please contact us!!!
If joining a group is not your thing, but you want to help, please DONATE. All projects cost money!
THANK YOU and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
